America First Legal (AFL), a conservative watchdog group, announced a new program on Thursday to assist parents in shielding their kids from what it refers to as “woke leftist teachings in K-12 schools, colleges, and universities.”
AFL senior advisor Ian Prior said in a statement that “public schools have been indoctrinating children with radical racist, antisemitic, and transgender ideologies for the past four years.” “The Biden administration collaborated to federalize the unlawful practices since these schools have flagrantly broken civil rights laws. That will change in 2025, as the next administration has stated that it will take tough measures against these progressive institutions that misuse federal funding to impose harmful ideals on kids.
AFL said in a news release that the recently released “Parents’ Rights Toolkit” offers tools and advice for families wishing to contest laws they feel are detrimental or discriminatory, particularly those pertaining to gender and ethnicity.
In order to address possible violations of civil rights protections under Title IX, Title VI, and the Protection of Pupil Rights Amendment (PPRA), the toolkit provides sample letters for parents to use when submitting complaints to the Department of Education’s Office for Civil Rights.
Stephen Miller and other former Trump administration officials created AFL, which hopes the toolkit will also operate as a guide for the future Trump government.
“AFL’s toolkit was created to help parents speak up for civil rights,” the report stated. “They should act now because these assertions will give the future Trump administration a vital road map for putting an end to discrimination and awakened indoctrination in our universities and institutions.
A conservative backlash against DEI policy coincides with the release of the toolkit. Rep. Jasmine Crockett, D-Texas, voiced her frustration during a hearing on the “Dismantle DEI Act” held by the House Oversight Committee on Wednesday.
In her closing statement, she asserted that “companies with more diverse workforces are more likely to outperform their competitors.”
“Diversity works, and until you can provide me with evidence to the contrary, I believe that we must return to a nation that listens to experts, gets over our emotions, and acknowledges that racism exists in this nation. Until we stop acting as though it doesn’t, we will not be able to address the issues that we face on a regular basis. And when we’re searching for a more ideal connection, that will deliver the true togetherness we desire,” she stated.
