Susan Sarandon is open to finding love again, but she’s just looking for someone she can have a good time with regardless of their age or gender.
“I would like to have a travel companion, male, female—age doesn’t matter,” the actress revealed to People magazine this week. “But I would like to find someone who’s up for an adventure kind of attitude. And also, who cares about something passionately and who loves what they do, whatever that is.” She went on to say that the pandemic has made her more comfortable with just taking life as it comes and spending all her free time with her three kids and three grandchildren while she can. Sarandon explained, “I guess my point is I’m pretty open, but I don’t know. COVID isn’t exactly the most perfect dating situation to be finding people. So, I don’t know, but I’m pretty happy making memories with my kids.”
Sarandon is the mother of actress Eva Amurri, whose father is Italian director Franco Amurri. She also has two adult sons with ex-partner Tim Robbins—director Jack Henry Robbins, 31, and musician Miles Robbins, 28. The actress and Robbins dated for 23 years before calling things off in 2009. One year later, she began dating director Jonathan Bricklin, her last major relationship, which ended in 2015.
But while the Oscar winner has been flying solo for several years now, she says that she’s still in no rush to find a new partner. On an episode of the Divorced Not Dead podcast released in March, Sarandon confessed, “I’m kind of getting off on being by myself. I think I’m pretty open to the idea of being with someone, but, you know, it certainly would take someone extraordinary to share my medicine cabinet at this point. I think that those days are over.” A sentiment she reiterated in her interview with People, concluding, “In terms of a romantic relationship, I don’t know. That window may have closed, but I’m forever hopeful—but not desperate.”
