Funding available to support Glendale small businesses – Your Valley

The city of Glendale and Prestamos CDFI, a division of Chicanos Por La Causa, have teamed up to enhance funding and technical support to small businesses with a new relief program.

The Glendale Pandemic Response Small Business Assistance Program will help small business owners experiencing hardships related to COVID-19 pandemic with grants of up to $25,000. The grants will be available on a first-come, first-served basis and are intended for for-profit microenterprise businesses with five or fewer employees (including owners) within the city limits of Glendale that have been negatively impacted by the pandemic.

“Early on, our Council unanimously approved the use of funds which would provide local businesses access to resources that could help them survive the economic hardships the COVID-19 pandemic has created,” Glendale Mayor Jerry Weiers stated in a news release. “We are pleased to partner with Chicanos Por La Causa, an industry leader, in order to distribute grant funds to those businesses that qualify.”

The program also includes access to webinars and interactive workshops in English and Spanish that provide practical tips that small businesses can immediately implement to improve their economic position, recover from business interruptions or closures, and mitigate the hardships facing them because of the pandemic.

“We remain focused recognizing that we are here for the people,” Chicanos Por La Causa president and CEO David Adame. “It is about them. Small-business owners create jobs and their ideas reenergize entire neighborhoods. However, they are still in survival mode as the COVID-19 pandemic continues to have ripple effects in local communities. We are committed to help them along the recovery process. We know Glendale business owners are resilient and together we will help them get back on their feet and thrive.”
