(KUTV) – State investigators allege a Draper man earned at least $150,000 in the last year by selling stolen items online.

An arrest report from the Utah State Bureau of Investigation says agents also recovered 100 items that are likely stolen in the home of 33-year-old Tajpal Bhatia.

“Bhatia purchased stolen merchandise from various sellers at a severely discounted rates and sold said items on eBay, OfferUp and KSL.com,” the report says.

Investigators obtained records from eBay that show Bhatia made over 500 sales in the last year, netting $150,000, according to police.

“Bhatia admitted in an interview that on several occasions he purchased items that still had security devices still attached like spider wire and screamers. He also admitted to buying from some of the same sellers that may have been stealing the items,” the arrest report says.

Bhatia was booked into the Salt Lake County Jail on suspicion of money laundering and theft by receiving stolen property, both third-degree felonies.
